Our uncle (Tio Chuy) who is a retired priest from the Diocese of Mexicali in Mexico is having open heart surgery and additional work for his heart. Padre Jesus Muñoz, also known as Padre Chuy, has been a priest for over 50 years in Mexico and he has made a positive impact on so many with his hard work and optimism. He retired a few years ago after a series of health problems kept him from being able to walk. Although he is now able to walk with assistance, his heart condition has worsened and is in need of this surgery. The health insurance doesn't cover the cost of the surgery and the diocese is not able to support at this time. The surgery will be performed in June and he will be billed for a total of about $300,600 pesos, or a little over $17,000 dls. We don't expect to raise all the money needed but we hope to be able to collect some funds to return to Mexicali and pay off some of the bill.
