Martin & Matthew's Moving Fund
Donation protected
As many of our friends and family know, escalating living costs are pushing us to leave the San Francisco/Bay Area and relocate to a less expensive home, one where we aren’t constantly struggling, barely scraping by from paycheck to paycheck. We have been planning for nearly a year to move across the country to Pittsburgh PA. Matthew has many family members living in and near Pittsburgh to visit and connect with again. Martin will get to experience living outside the state of California for the first time in his life. A good friend in Pittsburgh has offered to rent us a flat in a beautiful house for an extremely reasonable price. It really is the perfect place for us to settle down, where we can live together in a city that is not such a serious struggle to survive in.
We have both been working very hard, saving when we can, but multiple emergencies and unexpected circumstances (including thousands of dollars in medical expenses and car repairs) have slowed down our ability to save money for this big move. Our friend has been very kind and extended his rental offer to give us more time, and we promised we would move in by the end of this year. So far we have managed to save $2700 in our moving fund, but will need at least a total of about $6000 to make this plan a reality. The costs include a moving van or pod to get our things across the country, the first & last month’s rent for the flat, and additional funds to cover expenses of the transition.
Looking at our finances, we should be able to save another $1000 on our own by the deadline, but we’d still be falling short of our goal. We need another $2000 to make it happen. We have hesitated to create this page, feeling embarrassed to reach out and ask for financial assistance, but we’re becoming desperate as our deadline looms ahead of us. Any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated. To express our gratitude, we have a special gift to offer the first 20 people who donate anything. Thank you so much for reading and for your help in realizing our goal.
