My neice, Jayci, is a spunky, determined, strong willed, and competitive 11 year old girl who is adored by her friends and family. In addition to these characteristics that make her special, she is one of the few people in the world with acromicric dysplasia. Not only is acromicric dysplasia rare, it is accompanied by a long list of ailments including short stature, limited joint mobility, increased scar tissue, heart and lung complications, and chronic pain. Jayci has endured and continues to edure multiple surgeries and chronic pain. She faces these challenges head on, with determination to overcome them and to enjoy every moment of her life.
Besides family, Jayci's greatest love is being competitive and playing sports. As she gets older, her opportunities to play competitively with same aged peers significantly decrease, however, Jayci has the opportunity to play with peers of similiar height through Little People of America and Dwarf Athletic Association of America. These opportunities require Jayci and her family to travel to various parts of the country. Because of Jayci's first year participating in the DAAA games one year ago, her athletic abilities, determination, and sportsmanship were recognized by all of those around her. This lead to Jayci being pursued by the DAAA badminton sports tech for the opportunity to play badminton at the DAAA Games during the National Conference this summer. Jayci is being presented with opportunities to attend clinics and train to work toward competing in the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo. This would be an amazing experience and opportunity for anyone, but especially for a child with acromicric dysplasia where opportunities are so rare. Please consider contributing to this fund to help Jayci have the experience of a lifetime. Jayci and her family would be so grateful.
