My Friend John Mockus' Med Bills
Donation protected
I'm setting up this fund for my good friend, John, who just completed his last round of radiation therapy at Dominican Hospital. At the time of this writing, he has fought and won a pitched battle to defeat stage-four cancer. He is in full remission.
As you may be already aware, John has a very sad story. I'm almost afraid to write this, as it will strike some of you as disingenuous, improbable, or an outright fabrication. Having said that, I hope you will understand the tragic nature of the events that have occurred in this man's life in these last few years, and which culminated with his recently treated lymphoma.
Firstly, John's wife of 25 years passed from cancer in 2010, followed thereafter by his 17-year old daughter Olivia's death a year later, her death occurring due to a car accident. As a result of the housing crisis, John eventually lost his house in Oregon. Soon after, his son succumbed to drug addiction, and although, he is fortunately alive and well, he will still be incarcerated until next year. In 2014, John's mother was diagnosed with lung cancer and died in 2015. Finally, after moving back to California to be closer to his mom, Angie the family dog of ten years had to be euthanized because of an inoperable gastro-intestinal tumor.
This horrific list is more devastating than is humanly possible to endure for most of us. John has, incredibly, managed to maintain a positive attitude and is fighting for his life. Thanks to the care he is receiving, the outlook is good. However, the financial burden this puts on the meager income he receives - through disability insurance - means his financial future is bleak. Please help John in this time of need. Thank you.
