Hello,
My name is Hannah Moore. I am currently attending the College of the Holy Cross where I have recently been accepted into the study abroad program for the University of York in York, England. Ever since I was a freshmen in highschool I have wanted to study abroad. I am from a small town in Maine and though I love where I come from I have always felt a desire to explore the world. The program I have been accepted into is perfect for me as York has incredible Art History and Chemistry programs which I need to take to as I plan to apply to grad school after I graduate in 2018 and get a masters degree in art conservation. Having an opportunity like this will not only impact who I am and my perspective on the world but also prepare me for my future career path.
So far in my college career I have been able to pay for my own tuition. I have been fortunate enough to receive a scholarship from Holy Cross, however I still have to pay roughly six thousand dollars for each of my last two years at school. I was able to afford my tuition for the last two years due to the money I saved while working during my summers in high school and by working both in the summer and during the academic year while in college. Unfortunately, the study abroad program requires some extra fees that I will not be able to afford on my own and while my parents and family want to help support me they are not in the financial position to do so.
The money I raise here will help go towards the added expenses of traveling abroad such as the plane ticket, insurance fees (since I must change my plan to accommodate the fact that I will be abroad), school tuition, and supporting myself while I am in England.
I will be thankful for any help you can provide. I am a hardworking and academically successful student who is very involved with the community. To continue to achieve my goals and be an involved member of the community in York I need to be in a financially secure position. Any support you can provide will help me make the most out of this opportunity.
