Hope for Joanne

My wonderful friend and coworker, Joanne, is 45 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer this past July. Unfortunately it has now spread to her lymph nodes and she will be facing surgery and a prolonged recovery. For those of you who know her, you know that she is an extraordinary human being. She is cheerful, loving, unbelievably strong and always puts her friends and family before herself. She is blessed to have been together with her amazing husband, Mark, for over 20 years and knows he will be behind her 100%. Sadly, they have had to face other tragedies, including the stillbirth of their son, Mark Anthony Jr. in 2015, so they are no strangers to adversity and know the battle they face ahead. Even though Mark is her best friend and super supportive this cancer diagnosis has turned their life upside down emotionally, physically and financially.
She has been told that she will need a Mastectomy, followed by chemotherapy and radiation and will need to take at least 6 weeks off from her job that she really enjoys. She will be in the battle of her life as she struggles to regain her ability to do all the activities she enjoys such as cooking, hiking, road trips and spending time with her family, husband and her beloved dog.
Because of the pending surgery, she will be unable to work and will likely not be able to return until the she has completed her course of treatment. Unfortunately, she is not covered by short term disability so she is facing an extended time without her current income. Some of her medical expenses are not covered and with the everyday necessities of life, money is going to be very tight.
Joanne is one of the strongest, most selfless people I have ever known and is always there to give her love and support or the shirt off her back to anyone that needs it. It is so important that she is able to take the time she needs to beat this horrible disease without feeling the stress of financial hardship.
Now, it's time that we send back some of that love and support to Joanne. Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated.
