Parklen's ITP

Donation protected
Parklen is an 8 year old boy living in Casper, Wyoming. Most of his life has been spent in and out of the hospital due to a rare autoimmune disease. In 2013, things were at their worst. Parklen’s big brother donated bone marrow to save his brothers life. The transplant was successful and Parklen lived a semi healthy life over the past 2 and a half years.

Over the last several months, Parklen had begun to show signs of sickness. After he began to wake up with unexplained bruises that seemed to cover his body, doctors were able to diagnose him with a condition known as, Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia (ITP), it basically means that your body begins to attack your own platelets. This condition is not uncommon in kiddos that have been transplanted. It can be a bit more difficult to treat in post transplant patients that those who have not undergone a transplant.

Parklen has begun treatment. His doctors feel that they have a clear treatment plan. The plan is going to require weekly travel. He will require weekly infusions of an IV drug. Infusions are 6 hours long and for now, the docs aren't comfortable with him receiving the drug away from the Children’s Hospital. He will also receive platelets periodically during the treatment until his body is able to maintain a healthy level. It was suggested that they live in Denver over the summer, but they are unsure if that is the right move for them, and are weighing their options and working to make the best decision for all of their children.

Please consider giving anything you can, every dollar adds up. Keep this family in your thoughts, prayers, and blessings. Thank you and check out their website for updates: https://www.facebook/groups/prayersforparklen/
