NewSqueezeBox for Clif

Donation protected
For the past couple of months Clif has been fighting a difficult battle for his life. Seemingly overnight he went from his usual self to being diagnosed with end-stage liver disease and placed on life support. He was transferred from Brackenridge in Austin to the Transplant Center in San Antonio and put on the waiting list for a donor liver. Luckily a match became available and he received a transplant on April 18. It soon became clear that this liver wasn’t doing well, and it ceased functioning entirely on May 5. Clif was put back on the waiting list for another liver and at this point the surgeon estimated his chance of survival at 5%. Miraculously, another compatible liver became available and Clif received his second transplant on May 7. This new liver worked well from the beginning, and after another surgery (of 5 total) to repair some bleeding, it has been working perfectly.

Clif is now on the road to full recovery. As of June 7 all of his lab work shows steady improvement and he has been cleared to drive his car and finish his recovery at home in Austin starting June 16, if his condition continues to improve at it current pace.

Anyone who knows Clif knows what an active and vital personality he is, especially when he is onstage performing with his band BLUESQUEEZEBOX. One of the rules his doctors have laid down regarding his recuperative period is that he must not pick up anything that weighs over 10 pounds, until at least early 2017. This rules out most accordions, among many other things.

The purpose of this fundraising campaign is to raise enough to purchase a lightweight digital accordion for Clif:

His medical bills at this point are insurmountable. We can’t begin to make a dent in them, but we can help him acquire a tool that will allow him to get back to doing what he loves most and does best, performing live music with his band. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated and get Clif one step closer to being back onstage as he recovers from this ordeal.

Thank you!
