27 Years of Medical Challenges
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
My friend Leandra is 34 and was recently diagnosed with renal cancer. I have set up a Go Fund Me fundraiser on her behalf. A donation of any amount would truly help as Leandra is unable to work and is facing thousands of dollars in expenses on this very long road ahead. All funds raised will be vital for her everyday survival and medical needs. Thank you for considering a gift. I know it means the world to Leandra and her family.
Leandra’s medical challenges began when she was in the 1st grade.
At 7, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Chemo, a bone marrow transplant, lots of treatment.
Things really went downhill for Leandra at age 8 after a relapse and total body radiation. The treatment eliminated the blood cancer but was brutal to her system.
Over the last 27 years, Leandra has battled many conditions, most tied to her childhood cancer and treatments. As a child who had leukemia, she could have never guessed that it would affect her entire life. A January 2023 kidney cancer diagnosis, plus:
A tumor on her 11th rib. In 2022, after several, painful months of doing injections and epidurals, surgery removed the tumor, a rib, and nerves (to reduce pain)
Early onset Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Fibromyalgia
After breaking bones 4 times in one year, she’s currently receiving infusions to strengthen her bones
A partial hysterectomy due to a softball-sized tumor on her ovary
Skin Cancer - chest, head, and thigh
Graft vs. Host Disease (GVH), a byproduct of the bone marrow transplant at age 7. Wheelchair bound, she had physical and occupational therapies and to partially walk again
Type 1 Diabetes
Thank you for listening to Leandra’s story. I’m so grateful for your kindness.
With love on Leandra’s behalf
