Jim's Medical Fund
Donation protected
A year ago, my dad, Jim (59) was diagnosed with a rare thymus gland cancer. He was only one of several cases in (medically documented) US history, and became a case study for the medical team at the Presnce St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. He underwent radiation treatments with success in beating cancer, but was warned that if it returned, it would be fatal.
In the last few months, he has started having breathing difficulties again in the same way the cancer started before. As of right now he is still cancer free, and his blood tests show only a rise in cholesterol. He was just diagnosed in the last week with what doctors believe to be Pulmonary Fibrosis with his lung capacity at approximately 70%. We are hoping it is not anything more serious, and that it will be treatable. He is to undergo a battery of more testing in the next week and upcoming months.
Every day after his radiation, he went to work. He never stops. He has the upmost strength and faith to be able to carry on as he does. Even now, in the pain and stress he feels, he has been working every week. As a musician, piano teacher and piano salesman who only generates income from commission, the medical bills and constantly rising health care premiums have been quite burdensome on him. The $15,000 I would like to attempt to raise for my dad is a rough estimate of his current medical debt he will owe by the end of this year.
I know it can be hard to accept support if it feels like handouts or charity, but I hope he sees this instead as people who want to reach out because they care. He will work tirelessly until this battle is over, and I want him to know he doesn't need to do it alone.
My dad is a huge rock in my life, and I love him very much. Any amount donated will help greatly. Thank you so much for your consideration and time.
This fund is strictly to be used for medical bills. Any remaining proceeds will be donated to others in need.
