Remy Needs A New Foot

My name is Remy and I am 27 years old. I have lived with chronic pain my whole life.  I was born with bilateral club feet. At nine months old, I underwent my first surgery, followed by another 8 over the next 14 years. For as long as I can remember, I have been on a rollercoaster of pain due to a broken talus and multiple cysts that have formed in my foot. After seeing one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the country, my dream of having my final reconstructive surgery was squashed.  My foot is beyond the point of reconstruction and in order to gain any form of normality in my life, I am now facing amputation. 



My goal is to raise enough money to purchase a prosthetic that will enable me to live a normal life again.  I want to be able to continue to do those activities I have been able to enjoy up until this point (such as hiking and swimming) and am hoping that I will be able to experience some new activities that my foot never enabled me to do, such as skating or skiing.

 

This experience has been hard on my psychological state of wellbeing and is about to take another toll on my physical state.  I am unable to work as I undergo the preparations for this life-changing surgery as well as endure the recovery time that is required.  I am looking for hope!  I want to know that I will be able to live the life I desire and the life I deserve, despite the realities of my current situation.  Anything you are able to give, big or small, to help me reach my goal will tremendously and greatly be appreciated.
