Simon's Surgery

Hi everyone! First off let me say thank you for even taking the time to read this and to click on our page. It already means the world that you took time out of your day for us.

Helloooooo!

For anyone that knows me, they know Simon. He has been my right hand man (dog), my best friend, my partner in crime, and the only thing that stopped me from staying out and making stupid decisions on an almost daily basis. Hell I used to walk Simon through the streets of Covington and people knew his name that didn't even know mine! There has never been a friendlier dog to people or animals. Simon simply loves everyone, especially if they have food or belly rubs for him.

Did someone say belly rubs???

Yesterday, May 28th 2016, I took Simon to the Emergency Room because he seemed to be having some neck problems and was moving around very slowly and wasn't eating much. Unfortunately his neck was only a minor problem. The doctors at the office found a cancerous tumor on his spleen called a hemangiosarcoma. The mass has a tiny rupture causing blood to slowly leak into his abdomen causing pain, lethargy, and much to Simon's dismay a loss of appetite.

On the way to the ER, someone has a grouchy face...

After consulting with the doctors who were all very kind and helpful it was explained to me that the best course (and likely only course) of therapy involves a surgery to remove his spleen, followed by chemotherapy. Just typing these words scares the hell out of me. I feel so much pain and sadness for anyone that has ever had to deal with anything like this whether it was a pet or a person.

So this is where you guys and gals come in...

The surgery to remove Simon's spleen is estimated to cost around $8000. Any penny donated to us will go directly to help us pay for the surgery as soon as possible. The doctor reccommended that he have the surgery last night while we were at the ER, but I simply don't have $8000 to spend. I would sell everything I own to get the money for my boy (look on craigslist LA people, I am selling a lot of my belongings to help me get closer to that total).

For those of you that donate, or just took the time to read this, I can't tell you how thankful I am. Simon has gotten me through some of the darkest times in my life. Anyone that has struggled with alcoholism knows how easy it is to stay out and have, "just one more drink," but every night I knew that Simon was sitting at home waiting for me and that made all the difference in the world. It's now my time to help Simon get through a dark time in his life, and I need your help to do so. Please donate anything you can afford to help me keep my best friend healthy, happy and by my side for many more years to come.

Thank you again, and best wishes to you and yours!

Love,
Zack, Clare & Simon
