UPDATE #5
Mochi is home. I got the call to come get him in Toronto at about 12:30 today, he has been shaved on every leg so he has little booties and he's not too happy about it. We've also got to help me up harness on him which has been an absolute godsend, and they've given us instructions that him being mobile but in a secure, stable, manner is encouraged and I will be doing my prms, my therapy work, balancing and more to get him active. I also have a slightly inclined grassy area right beside my unit which will provide good traction and up and down exercises. He's not interested in eating but he sure does look happy to be home. The clinic was very good to us, and had nothing but high praise for how well-behaved he was.

So it was definitely an fce, or spinal stroke to those who don't know what that is. I've got 300 MRI images sent to me in a comprehensive workup. He will be going for another check up in 2 weeks, and he is going to be referred to a physical therapist here in town, and as well to an internal medicine specialist as he seems to have an issue with a kidney, perhaps there was an impact somewhere that we were not aware of which has brought this all on, however we're going to be looking into that injury.

I have not been on messenger much trying to get out Canadian dog fancier and of course make sure he gets out and up enough to work those legs and prevent bed sores. I will try and catch up with everybody later, for now, I'm just breathing a sigh of relief to hear the snoring in the living room.

UPDATE #4
Thank you, Tracy Cartright, for your kindness. I found out about the GoFundMe last night. I've done many GFM for others and donated ads, photography and such for many causes for as long as I can remember. Many don't like using it and have been sending it to me directly, and I am overwhelmed and humbled. I was not sure why I was receiving EMTs from people I didn't have current projects for, but now I do.

It's tough to swallow your pride when someone offers something like that, but in the end, it's not about me, it's all about getting dogs and people on their feet again - I will pay it forward!

It's been the worst year for me in such a long time. With the broken leg at Olde York, missing half a year of photoshoots and dog shows where I would shoot, then the emergencies with Joey, the $10,000 car breakdown, it can hit you hard and fast in half a year, living alone, despite having what I thought was a good backup plan.

ALL candid photos on the winconline pixieset are marked down to $10 (works out to around $5.75 for me) to help raise some funds for what looks to be a $20,000 bill (not including follow-up therapy.)

For everyone who has contributed, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I am hoping to see Mochi today and crossing my fingers that coming home soon is still an option. I miss him dearly.

UPDATE #3
We are home, and we are one dog less, and house just feels so empty. Mochi is staying overnight, and he was still out when they told us to go home and they were doing the spinal tap. The MRI was complete they are sending it off to a radiologist for a secondary opinion but the current diagnosis is FCE. We are also dealing with some other issues which may be as a result of him being sedentary and dehydrated during the last couple days, however they will be running some further tests tonight and will let us know in the morning.

There will be some intense physical therapy needed to get him walking again, so I will be looking into where I can go to do that nearby so that I'm not carrying him all over the place as well as doing my physiotherapy with him here which I've done before with Reiku. He's being a very good boy and we've gotten a lot of compliments on how cooperative he's being, he is at Lakeshore animal partners in Mississauga with Dr Andrea Finnen.

UPDATE #1
heading into Lakeshore animal partners for the MRI and if needed possible surgery who knows at this point, I got a little glimmer of hope last night but he was not better this morning in fact back to his original condition

UPDATE #2
2:30pm
They've taken him in, the vet has said he's got some unusual presentations considering it's primarily his right side.

Showing no pain still, slightly slower patella reflexes on the right rear.

They think it's probably a slipped disc, a spinal stroke, or perhaps menegitis of unknown origin. They will be keeping him until this evening, and possible for a few days. They said it could also be several other things however those are their primary suspicions.

They are doing:
MRI and spinal tap.
full blood panel again
And a list of other things that honestly sounded like a whirring motion of white noise.

They said I could wait or go home, but with the long list of warnings and such over the dangers of the upcoming procedures, I'll be staying here and close by. Looks like I'll be selling some gear, as the deposit was already 6 months rent but nothing you can do about that. Just want him home.

---------------

We are home, made it into the wee morning hours. Took some ingenuity and finagling to get him down my incredibly steep narrow and small front foyer steps but he's now set up on a non-slip carpet with all his amenities fire and some background noise.

Will update once I get news, and the appointments are over. He's eaten and drank well, temp is still fine, he's alert and still showing no signs of pain. Tried to get some sleep after three days without, but wake up with every move. Hoping we can get onto a quick path to diagnosing. I've got a plethora of messages waiting all asking about mochi so please don't be offended if I don't get to you in time, I will be updating here so that we can focus on him and getting deadline out today as well.

Thanks everyone for their help and well wishes.

****UPDATE****
in Wendy’s own words!

They're doing the MRI they think he could have had the basically spinal stroke it's called fcm something I'm not exactly sure, or they are considering meningitis of unknown origin, they are doing a spinal tap, they are doing a test for degenerative myelopathy however they don't think that's it because he's not presenting that way.

They're going to do a neurology work up with him right now and he's in good spirits, good body weight, good heart rate, good respiration, good temperature.

They're doing another full blood panel work up to isolate anything in there.

It’s time for the dog show family to pull together…we all know
Wendy Reyn and how much she loves her dogs and does whatever needs to be done to provide for their well being. Now they need our help!
Wendy and I drove out to Cross Creek, NB for rhe lovely Miramichi shows to support the Chow Chow Club of Canada National Specialty.
The evening of our arrival, for reasons which are still unknown, Mochi started going downhill to the point of being unable to support his own weight.
A day at rhe Fredricton Urfent Care (who is amazing by the way) bet included X-rays, snaps for
Lyme and tick borne viruses and blood work all which came back normal with the vet suggesting an MRI to check for nervous system and neurological issues.
THE VETS ARE BAFFLED!!!
If you’ve had to do an MRI on a dog, you k ow it ain’t cheap! I mean in the market of $7-$10000 a shot!
Donations can be made
To this source and Wendy will be making calls to find a vet capable of performing the test!
Check back for updates as I find out the clinic details so donations can be made directly to the clinic!
We all enjoyed watching Mochi from the moment he came
To Canada as a baby floof, to his fabulous puppy career and now as a successful
Special!
Our dog community is incredibly supportive and generous when one of us is in trouble.
Mochi needs help!
