Hi everyone, I am fundraising to help rebuild my uncle’s home that burnt down last year. Last year was a really bad year for my Uncle Ricky. After working his whole life on the road as a crane operator he was forced into early retirement in 2019 due to health conditions. He had a piece of land paid off and a small cabin by the pond. He also had a camper and a 4-wheeler. Retirement didn’t seem so bad. In early 2019, his camper caught fire due to an electrical failure. The fire quickly spread to his cabin, and to his 4-wheeler. In just one hour he lost everything he spent his whole life saving for. Insurance helped pay for most of the camper but he didn’t have insurance on the cabin, belongings inside, or the 4-wheeler. In total he lost around $64,000 in assets. There are a few people helping him build a small metal building by the pond that should be complete in the 1st qtr 2021. There is still a large gap that needs to be filled. He will still need to furnish the house and pay for all the interior finishes. Without being able to work, these expenses are not only challenging but almost impossible. Any money raised here is beyond appreciated by myself and our family. A little bit about Uncle Ricky: He has always been my hero. At a very young age he was a victim to fire. Out riding a dirt bike and a car pulled out in front of him. He laid the bike down and he got stuck under the car. The car caught caught fire and nearly took his life. After months in a burn unit in Warner Robins, GA, he survived. He was left with his body fully scarred from head to toe. But this didn’t stop him. Uncle Ricky is the most selfless, caring, funny, and a thrill to be around person you have ever met. He is a firm believer in God and goes to church every Sunday. He doesn’t drink, smoke, gamble, he is just a really good man. It breaks my heart that at this stage of his life he is again a victim of fire. I’ve waited this long to try to raise money for him because I know he wouldn’t approve. He would never ask for a dime. But I’m swallowing the pride for him and putting it out there to ask for help. He has talked about selling his land, selling his truck, etc just to get by. Any money raised here would be a huge help and an answered prayer. Thank you.
