Help Mallory Have Surgery to repair CSF leak
Hey everyone. I’m raising money for Mallory Wantling, who needs to surgically fix her CSF leak in her spine and brain. Mallory is a 20 year old living on her own and with the recent passing of her father she is left short of support through this time. Her CSF leak has affected her coordination, caused constant head aches, can result in meningitis, has damaged her overall health/quality of life, and can eventually result in mortality. Therefore, needing to get this done ASAP. The funds would go directly towards paying for her surgery in LA at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. It would completely seal the hole and allow her to live her normal life again. Mallory would have to stay hospitalized for 3 days after surgery to heal. With medical bills and the flat cost to get out there from Missouri it’s going to be a lot for anyone to pay. She and all her loved would be forever grateful for any donations that go to help. We will post updates whenever any plans are officially made and there will be full transparency of where the money is spent (hotel, flight, basic necessities like food while in LA, any possible copayment due at time of treatment, and etc).
Mallory was referred to Cedars-Sinai in 2018 after a failed blood patch. Her and her dad made the first trip out to see Dr. Schievink in 2019 where he was able to find the leak, and repair it with afibrin glue patch. Upon returning home Mallory came down with Aseptic Meningitis and after communicating with Schievink learned that if the leak were to reopen the only option would be surgery instead of patches. After months of relief and working full time Mallory noticed the pain of the leak come back in August. After seeing her local neurologist in November it was determined that the leak has returned. We are now in the process of communicating and scheduling with Cedar-Sinai.
