Eck Family Legacy Fund

This is a video written, produced, directed and narrated by my father, Frank Charles Eck. As my father approached his 80th birthday in early 2014, he came up with the idea to create a video diary of what he was then calling, "The Eck Family Legacy." His wishes for this project were to share his life story through moving pictures, which you can see in the video above.

Everyone that knew my dad or even just crossed paths with him know what a kind hearted soul he was, with his endearing smile and genuine personality.

On Mother's Day, May 8, 2016, my father was rushed to UCLA hospital due to a minor head injury he sustained by falling out of his bed.  What we didn't know and what we found out from the doctor's was that he had a very severe urinary tract infection, which eventually spread to the rest of body. It was an uphill battle for the two and half weeks we were there. It seemed like everyday the doctors would inform us of another unforunate development in his health, and as disappointing as the news may have been, my dad still smiled at the doctors and thanked them for all that they did for him. He had the largest fan base of nurses and doctors there. All of us routing for him. Physically, there is only so much the human body can handle, especially at the age of 81. Mentally, he probably could have fought for eternity.

Frank Charles Eck passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016.  All 7 of his kids, Frank Jr., Scott, Michael, Leanna, Charles, Patrick, Katerina and Tim along with his grandson Asher and wife, Elvira, had the fortune of standing by his side to say our final goodbyes. As heartbreaking as it was, it was also the most beautiful moment of our lives. My dad took the little energy he had left in him to open his eyes and give us that heart warming smile that we all know. It is a moment that will be engrained in our memories forever.

We will be honoring my father at Holy Cross Cemetery on Wednesday, June 1st at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask that the money be put toward this fund that was created to help support his wife and our mother, Elvira Eck. The love and support this woman provided to him and for all of us is absolutely priceless. These funds will help cover the outstanding hospital expenses as well as provide her the financial cushion she may need in the months to come.  There is no way to really pay her back for all that she has done for my father and for us, but whatever amount is raised on here would mean so much to her and to our family.
