Clayborn “Clay” Dallas Jester was killed in a tragic auto accident on February 15th, 2016 while helping a stranded colleague on an icy road. Clay was an engineer, entrepreneur, and a young man of deep spiritual faith. As Vice President of McAlister Design, a robotics integration company, his education made his dreams possible. Always focused and goal oriented, he lifted up and carried forward everyone around him with his enthusiastic love of life and an infectious smile.
Clay loved his job from an engineering perspective and was always there giving 150% whether it was with a challenging programming problem/design issue or working alongside of his colleagues on a late night/weekend schedule to meet an installation deadline. After he received his MBA from Clemson in 2013 he discovered his new love for growing and modernizing a high tech business that was always riding on an ever-changing technological edge. This was an exciting challenge for him and he made major contributions to the company’s success while never losing his hands-on engineering contribution. Clay believed that this combination of engineering and business acumen greatly improved the opportunity for success. Clay also loved championing the people around him and helping them maximize their own success.
It is in this spirit that the Clayborn “Clay” Dallas Jester Memorial Scholarship Endowment is being created. Upon reaching its initial endowment target the fund will begin providing scholarships in Clay’s memory for students enrolled in the Clemson University School of Business. It is the ultimate goal after the endowment reaches a specified funding level to provide scholarships to students in the Clemson MBA program who also have achieved or are working toward an engineering degree.
