As many of you have heard by now, Catanduanes Island was hit hard by a super typhoon equivalent to a category 5 hurricane. My families small village on the edge of the swamp was hit directly by high winds, torrential rains and large mudslides. During the storm eight other families gathered inside my uncle’s home with his family for protection. As you can see from the photos from after the storm, the house took a good beating but stood strong and kept everyone inside alive, a true testament to my Lolo’s craftsmanship. Although it may have survived 195mph winds, it will need a lot of work to become safe and livable again. We started this fundraiser to help the families in our village get food and clean drinking water as soon as possible and to help rebuild their homes. Thank you! Salamat
