Long-time friend and second mother to Karrie, Patti Clark approached us about starting a GoFundMe page for Karrie's out-of-pocket medical expenses. The following is a message from Patti, encouraging support for Karrie's battle with cancer:
On Tuesday night, Oct. 20, Karrie experienced severe chest pain and trouble breathing. She thought she was having a heart attack, so she called her sister, Kristie, to take her to the ER. When they arrived, her blood pressure was dangerously low, so she went right into ICU where they stabilized her blood pressure, treated her pain, and began performing medical tests. Unfortunately, CT scans showed tumors in a lung, on her liver, and on a rib bone. A subsequent biopsy scope found more tumors on her stomach, pancreas, and esophagus—all are malignant. While this seems like the worst-case scenario, Karrie has dealt with this news with grace and dignity.
Our commonality with Karrie is that we all love her. I have known her for over 20 years, most of you longer than that, and I don't know many people who are as caring, compassionate, and giving as she is. As you know, life has thrown Karrie some difficult times: the devastation of losing both dear friends, Ginger and Missy. Now life has handed her another challenge. Karrie has been diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. There is no cure, but the doctor will tailor a treatment program for her with the goal of prolonging her life. Tough at any age, but just not fair for a 48-year-old.
I've been in touch with Karrie every day since her journey began and never once did she express any self-pity, which I found remarkable. I so admire her courage. She is a tough lady.
Fortunately, she has a very supportive family at home. Although we cannot help with her health battle, we can give her some financial peace of mind. She will have out-of-pocket medical expenses along with the usual monthly living costs. It is doubtful she will be working much as the treatment will be rigorous.

Please, if you are able, join me in giving any donation you are comfortable in giving. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. It will give Karrie one less thing to worry about as she fights for her life.
Thank you, God bless you, and please keep Karrie in your prayers. Miracles do happen!
