The Jay Parker Memorial Scholarship
Donation protected
On May 25, 2016, our dear friend, Jay Parker, passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident one week prior. The week following his accident, he lay in intensive care, his prognosis uncertain, while his family and friends prayed. As we waited and prayed, news of Jay's accident spread, and people from all over the country began posting on social media to share their personal stories of how Jay helped them, how he'd impacted them and changed their life, and was even credited by some for saving their lives. With his beloved wife, Julie, supporting him all the way, Jay freely gave whatever resource he had available to help the suffering alcoholic/addict recover – countless hours of his time, a ride to a 12-step meeting, a place to stay, a meal, hope when all hope seemed lost, a beaming smile, a boisterous laugh, a lasting friendship. This was the essence of Jay Parker. This is what we hoped to capture and honor in his memory.
Jay also had a special place in his heart for Any Length Recovery Community in Sumter, SC. He often credited the staff, which became like family to him, for saving his life. Over the years, he referred many people to Any Length for treatment and it seemed fitting to honor this as well.
Thus, The Jay Parker Memorial Scholarship was born.
All donations collected for The Jay Parker Memorial Scholarship will be given directly to Any Length Recovery Community in Sumter, SC. The scholarship will be used to pay for treatment expenses for those who are willing to go to any length to get clean and sober but cannot otherwise afford to pay. Even after his passing, Jay will continue doing what he was so passionate about: carrying the message of recovery to the alcoholic/addict who is suffering.
Your donation will make that possible.
Thank you and God bless!
