Help Maggie Heal
Donation protected
On May 21st, a house fire broke out at Maggie's home. Her owner, Charles Merrell was out of town, but neighbors acted quickly, and though Maggie was overcome by smoke inhalation, they were able to resuscitate her, and provide her with oxygen. When she regained conciousness, she was taken to the emergency vet along with her fur brother, Jim. Tragically, 4 other beloved pets perished. Jim has been released from the vet, but Maggie had to be transferred to Blue Pearl and placed in an incubator. Maggie is a hurricane Katrina survivor, and is showing that same strong will in her recovery, however she is still struggling to walk as she may have suffered neurological issues from the carbon monoxide. She is now off oxygen, but still in care of her veterinarian.
While homeowners insurance covers the cost of the damage to the house, it does not extend to pets. To date, vet bills have already reached over $6,000, and it is anticipated they will exceed $10,000.
Won't you please help Maggie, Jim and Charles get through this difficult and costly circumstance?
