Childhood cancer seems like one of those things that you always just think "oh that'll never happen to us." It seems like this abstract, sad thing that you only ever think about until you see Jennifer Anniston on one of those St. Jude's Children's Hospital commercials... at least until it happens to your family. On October 30th 2020, Jacob was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 11. I know that saying he doesn't deserve this is obvious - no kid does... but Jacob doesn't deserve this. He is funny, smart, active, and friendly. He's incredibly loyal (one time I took him to a Diamondbacks game and the entire time he felt like he couldn't cheer for the team because it was a betrayal to his precious Dodgers). He's just a sweet boy, and now for the next two to three years he will be fighting this battle against Leukemia. He's scared, but he is strong and he knows he can do this. We know he can do this. I hate to ask for money, but my family is going to need help covering the treatment costs. Jacob was covered by insurance through my mom's job, however after COVID-19 hit she decided to leave her position so that she could be present while the kids were doing online schooling. Unfortunately, he is not covered by insurance at this time. These treatments will be expensive and I've been doing some research on how much this is going to cost, and it can be anywhere from 50k to 150k. As a family, we are trying to take this all one step at a time, because even a small goal seems huge to us! Thank you all for taking the time to follow up, thank you for your prayers and your well wishes.
