Hello everyone! And thank you for taking the time out of your day to visit Ken Ricketts go fund me page. As some of you may know, Ken has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer. This diagnoses took our family at complete surprise, as there were no symptoms of any illness up until the end of September 2020. Since then, life has moved exceptionally quick with numerous oncologist appointments; in order to determine the best course of treatment.
Ken had a visit to the ER in late September because he had pain in his stomach and felt consistently bloated. After running a CT scan, they found some lesions on his liver. The CT could not determine what the primary source was and at this point we didn't know what the findings on the CT meant. He was then referred to a gastro doc for a colonoscopy. The following week, we checked in and after the procedure was over, the gastro doctor delivered the horrible news that he had colon cancer!! He went on to say that it was widespread. How do you process something like this?? I cried the whole way home. I mean Ken just celebrated his 47th birthday less than 1 month ago. We were then referred to an oncologist and surgeon for follow-up.
Fast forward to today, Ken has undergone a really invasive surgery to remove the mass, resulting in a resection to his large & small intestines. 3 total tumors were removed. He has had a PET scan and results were given to us this week. Ken has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer with metastatic liver and peritoneal cancer. The oncologist said it's an aggressive form of cancer and is very serious. He's already started his chemo treatments and we are praying he has good results with his treatment!! I need my husband and our kids need their father around for years to come.
We are telling you our story because we need your help. My husband is unable to work and is the main provider for our family. Our life has been turned upside down and we certainly were not prepared for this. Your donations will help with medical expense and treatment. Ken more than anything wishes he could take care of his own family. His work family has been fantastic and very supportive, but the reality is he won't be returning to work any time soon and we cannot do this alone. Thank you for your time and support during this difficult time for our family. God bless and we love you all.
