Estella’s Leukemia support

Hello everyone, Estella was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia March of 2019. She has a rare and complicated form that is Philadelphia positive. She had a haploidentical bone marrow transplant in July of 2019 with her brother as a donor. Her recovery was long and difficult. She had many allergic reactions to medications causing debilitating rashes all over her body. She also experienced liver toxicity due to her drugs which caused her to retain a large amount of fluid in her stomach and body. She has been through quite a bit. In January of 2020, Estella found out difficult news that she had relapsed and her bone marrow transplant had failed. She was admitted again for another round of chemo. She was not able to reach remission but her disease level remained controlled at <1%. After many changes in medications, Estella fully relapsed again at 90% disease burden. By the grace of God, Estella’s brother had once again harvested his cells for a clinical trial for Estella. She was waiting for enough disease to qualify for a clinical trial called CAR-T therapy at City of Hope. She spent another 35 days in the hospital and was able to reach remission! Unfortunately due to her type of ALL, the remission is only expected to last a few months at most before the disease relapsed again. What’s next? We are headed to Stanford mid November for another transplant. We will be moving as a family to the Stanford area for the next 100 days. Estella will be receiving chemotherapy and radiation. We have a few immediate needs and prayers: 1)we need affordable housing near the Palo Alto area, preferably 2 bedroom. 2)child care for our 4 year old son 3)on-call babysitter for emergencies 4)prayers for Estella’s health and survival.
