Jimmy's Rehab Fundraiser
Donation protected
As many of you know, Jimmy has been struggling with substance addiction to painkillers for over 10 years. It has taken a toll on his life, as well as the lives of many of us.
On March 8th, Jimmy was admitted to Memorial Herman Prevention and Recovery Center where he will be for a total of 28 days (http://parc.memorialhermann.org/) and receive inpatient addiction treatment. The Center provides 24 hour monitoring and medical and mental health support. He has passed through detox, but the hardest part begins now. Rebuilding and relearning how to deal with anxiety, pain, and life without substance abuse.
We believe that after this month-long treatment at Memorial Herman, Jimmy will continue to need structured and intense support given how long he has been living his current lifestyle. We found a facility in San Antonio, Texas that provides longer-term treatment, care, and housing for addiction called SOBA. https://sobatexas.com/
Insurance does not cover any of the cost for this 6-month treatment, therefore we are asking for your support in giving Jimmy the opportunity at a second chance. The $22,000 raised here will go towards 6 months of support.
Jimmy has communicated to us in a recent meeting where we visited him, that he is very interested in going to San Antonio. As you knw these programs are voluntary (Jimmy has to decide to be there) and while we really hope he finishes the full program, in case he does not, we will return the money you contributed (if you choose to do so).
Thank you for joining us and supporting Jimmy on this journey. The road to recovery is not easy, but in the last year we have come together and openly communicated as a family that if and when Jimmy reached out to us we would no longer give him any direct support, but support through treatment like this.
I know it means a lot to know his family is cheering for him. If you also want to write him a letter in addition to a donation, I will be collecting them so we can send them to him on this journey.
Please forward to family members I may have misses that you think would like to be in the know about this effort.
We appreciate your support and love during this time,
Jackie, Judy, Jim, & Sharon
