Support Sue Roberson’s family as they say goodbye to an amazing woman and struggle with her loss. Delphia “Sue” Roberson went home to be with her Lord on October 16, 2020. She was born in Richmond Indiana on November 25, 1954. She was preceded in death by her father, John Roberson, Sr. and her sister, Mary Lou, who passed as an infant. She is survived by her loving mother, Mary Lena (Potter) Roberson, her daughters Kiyona Long and Jacquitta Sanford Roberson and Kishaun Roberson, 6 grandchildren as well as her brother John Roberson (Lucy) and 4 nieces and nephews and a loving multitude of great-nieces and nephews & cousins, aunts & uncles. Her family was her foundation. Sue was well known to the Richmond community and the State of Indiana as a human resources professional, an activist for social justice, a pillar in her church, and an advocate for so many who struggled. Sue was twice awarded the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash. She worked for three Governors and three mayors of the city of Richmond. She was the past chair of multiple community organizations including the Richmond YWCA Board of Directors, and Townsend Community Center. She was actively involved in efforts to alleviate food insecurity, early supporter of Richmond’s Human Rights Commission, and a foster and adoptive mother and she lived her passion for making life better for children everywhere. Sue was universally loved for her big heart and big hugs. Her smile and sage advice will be missed by all. Sue’s birthday would’ve been Nov 25.
