Mariak Thuc is in hospital after he was hit and dragged by a car while waiting for a bus in northwest Edmonton at the beginning of May. Edmonton police say Mariak was sitting at a bus stop near 127th Street and 133A Avenue around 4:45 p.m. Saturday when a van mounted the curb and crashed into him. Mariak was then dragged a short distance before the van came to a stop.
Mariak, the 46-year-old victim was taken to hospital, where he had both legs amputated.
No charges have been laid as yet against the van's driver, a 40-year-old man. But police say alcohol and drugs may have been factors in the crash.
The Thuc's are recent immigrants to Canada and Mr. Thuc is the sole breadwinner for the family and is unable to work. Mom is currently going to school while she takes care of their six children.
We are raising funds to help support this family during a very serious time.

Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and would go directly to the care and well being of the children.
