Heather Burns Breast Cancer Fund

Heather Burns was diagnosed with breast cancer Thursday August 25, 2016. Heather is the wife of AJ Burns and they live in DeLand with their 3 children Ethan, Dalen, and Alyssa. They've very much been apart of the DeLand community for many years. Most of us know AJ if you've ever had tires put on your car or needed any work done on your car, he's probably been your go to guy. Heather and AJ have been apart of the DeLand AAU football community for years while their sons played football with our kids and I'm sure a time or two our kids have been piled up in their car to or from a practice. Heather has worked in the bowling alley in DeLand for many years before moving over to Sonnys in DeLand.
As I am writing this, Heather is actually leaving work because Sonnys is actually on fire. So, within 24 hours of being diagnosed with breast cancer, her job is literally in flames.
Heather just got the diagnosis. Her MRI scheduled for next week is 668 dollars. Her overall deductible for health insurance is 6,800 dollars. Not to mention the the money she already put out for the mammogram, biopsy, and follow up visit for the diagnosis. Right now she doesn't even know what stage or what type of breast cancer or how aggressive it may be. All I would like to do is help get her as close as possible to the deductible and help her with any income loss between her time off work for her Dr visits and now of course being out of work for however long as of today due to the fire at Sonnys. Heather just lost her mom several years ago to breast cancer, so this hits so much harder to her, her husband, and her kids. They've already suffered from this disease and now it's back and anything we can do would definitely be much appreciated.
The reason I am doing this fundraiser is to help two great people any way that I can. I know first hand what an amazing woman Heather is. She is so kind. She is always ready to jump in and help my family and I when we needed it and I've watched her do the same for many other people. My son was hit by a car in November and Heather not only put together a fundraiser for him at Sonnys, they also helped take care of my kids, even went as far as putting groceries in my home while I was in the hospital with my son. Heather even showed up at my house a time or two just to help me clean for the few minutes I was home before I would drive back to Jacksonville to be with my son. She's a strong and brave woman that I know will get through this but I would also like to do everything and anything I can to help make it just a little bit easier for her any way I can. So, please help us help her.
We've all been touched by cancer in some way. We know how quickly it moves and the damage it can do. So even if it's just a dollar, that's one dollar she doesn't have to think about when choosing between money for her doctor visit or the electric bill, one less dollar they don't have to stress coming up with when figuring out if they should buy groceries or pay for medication. We know how expensive treatment and recovery can be, so the closer we get, the little more they can concentrate on getting Heather better and kicking breast cancers ass!
This is just the first part of this go fund me. As she starts down her path and gets her MRI and gets into her oncologist we will update this as we go.
