On Tuesday, October 20th, John Mosser Sr. was diagnosed with stage IV, Thymic Carcinoma (TC). He was informed this is one of the rarest cancers with very little research and available data. Approximately 1.5 in 1 million people develop thymus cancer, and 20% or less of those cases are TC.
Due to the rarity of this disease, we immediately started reaching out to several specialists who have significant experience dealing with patients who have TC.
We have created this page because we have been asked a lot - What can we do? How can we help? Honestly, we’re not good at asking for help, or at saying "yes!" when someone offers…
The truth is we would love any help you feel like providing.
We have created this page to help with three areas:
1) Spiritually - An opportunity to send love, prayers, and support to John as he embarks on this journey;
2) Food - Bringing or sending (healthy) meals/gift cards. A close family friend is developing a SignUpGenius that will be used for coordination. This will be available in the coming days;
3) Financially - Due to the rarity and severity of this cancer, significant expenses are expected along this journey to travel and meet with expert doctors and surgeons, undergo drugs and treatments that may not be covered by insurance, or proceeding with clinical trials. We have set up this GoFundMe page to collect donations in the event this journey becomes too burdensome for our family to handle on our own. Any contributions received and not absolutely needed will be donated to the few who are conducting studies and researching cures for TC as well as other patients with the same diagnosis so that they too are able to travel and receive the best available treatment.
