Namie Stewart, mom & grandma killed in hit and run

My friend Cora’s beloved mother, while on one of her nightly strolls, was tragically killed and abandoned in a hit and run accident that occurred Thursday night in Fairfield. Namie Stewart was out walking which she always loved to do, when she was struck and killed near Laurel Creek Park. The family is heartbroken over her sudden death and still has no answers on the driver who did this. Namie, was a beloved mother and grandmother, known for her big personality and infectious smile. She’s been a long time resident of Fairfield since 1963..mother of 2 and grandmother of 4...and widow of a war veteran that retired from Travis Air Force Base. Namie had just celebrated her 81st birthday a little over a week ago. She loved to walk, shop, and talk...loved all people, was honest to a fault, healthy and feisty, full of life and would still be alive if not for this accident. Namie had been living with her daughter Cora and two grandsons, having escaped a house fire that took her home a few years back. She had been keeping active and healthy, even during Covid, often seen walking all over the neighborhood. Our hearts are breaking for her daughter Cora, her grandchildren, the rest of the family and everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and this has been a painful shock to the family. My friend Cora is very involved in the community, always helping others and was a huge support in volunteering to help fire victims who lost their homes in the recent fires and now I want to ask that you join me in helping her and her family during this difficult time.
