Bill Nyman was many things to many people - he touched lives as a husband, father, son, brother, friend, guide and in many other ways. On October 21, Bill had completed guiding a successful elk hunt in New Mexico with a client. While attempting to retrieve and pack out their prize the vehicle he was driving lost control, rolled and struck a tree causing his death. While we all feel pain and sadness from this tragic accident and loss, it can’t compare to the loss felt by his loving wife Dani, their two-year-old daughter Mira, and their child expected to arrive in the spring of 2021.
Chances are you all have had some great memories with Captain Bill. Whether it was hunting, fishing or sharing a story and a laugh Bill always made sure it was a memorable experience. If you spent more than a few hours with him, you probably checked all of those boxes during that time. He lived in the moment and could always make those around him happier and feeling a little less weighed down by the trivial things in life. He loved the outdoors, experiencing it and sharing it with others. Plenty of us lived vicariously through him while hearing of his hunting and fishing adventures as a professional guide and business owner.
His love for the outdoors didn’t come close to the love he felt for Dani, Mira and their baby on the way. For those of us that knew Bill a long time, you recognized the true happiness that grew in him when he became a husband and then a father. Bill would have been here to provide a lifetime of love and support to his family. There are so many of us who are better for having known Bill. Let’s all pull together to offer up some of that love and support as best we can by being there for Dani and their children.
In the immediate term, we can offer that support by helping financially and contributing to this fundraiser to assist Dani and the children in the face of these sudden and terrible challenges. Knowing Bill, his biggest concern would be ensuring his family is taken care of. In gratitude for the memories we’ve made, the teachings we’ve learned from Bill and our combined love for Dani and their children, please consider contributing. All donations are appreciated and no contribution is too small.
Join us in supporting Bill’s legacy of seeking adventure, laughter and most importantly, love for his family.
