Dobby’s Jaw Surgery

Hi everyone, we are Twyla’s Friends rescue in Kingwood, TX. This week we were contacted by a Twyla’s adopter and dear friend to Twyla’s Friends. Stacey, of Stacey’s Dance Studio, alerted us that one of her staff members had found a tiny pup who couldn’t open his jaw. Stacey knew the puppy needed medical attention ASAP and reached out to see if Twyla’s could help. Twyla’s was able to place the pup with a Stacey’s dance studio family as a foster family and he was admitted into Twyla’s Friends rescue. The puppy is as sweet as can be. He can tilt his head to the side and ingest milk and mushed up food through a small opening in his mouth on his left side. Dobby, as the pup was named, was rushed to our local vet partners, Glade Valley. They were able to stabilize the pup, but advised he needed a very specialized surgery. The oral surgeon was able to see Dobby today, but said he needs a tracheotomy in order for the surgery to be successful. He referred Dobby to Gulf Coast and he was seen there mid morning. Their surgeon who could do the surgery was on vacation, so they could not do the surgery .We were told Texas A & Mwas where we needed to take him. The Twyla’s volunteer( who is also a prop dad for Stacey’s studio) drove him to College Station this afternoon. They had a team waiting for our puppy. He was admitted to Texas A & M, and they are going to preform his life saving surgery. He needs a CT scan to give them a better idea of what is causing the jaw to lock. The x-ray that was taken initially shows there was a trauma to his head about a month ago. His eye is also injured, so the vets think he was kicked in the head causing the eye injury and locked jaw. Our estimate for his consultation, hospitalization, and surgery is $5,000. Dobby was so lucky he was that he was found when he was and we are able to help him get his life saving surgery.
