On New Year’s Eve 2025, I unexpectedly became homeless.
Over the past year, I struggled to keep up with rent after my work hours were reduced. I did everything I could to stay current—paying past-due balances while continuing to cover each new month’s rent. I also applied to multiple rental assistance and back-rent relief programs, but funding was extremely limited across organizations, and I was unable to receive the help needed in time.
I had a plan in place to move in with a friend temporarily so I could stabilize, save money, and move into a more sustainable living situation. Unfortunately, that plan fell through abruptly just one week before I was set to move, leaving me without housing at the start of the new year.
Since New Year’s Eve, I’ve been staying in a hotel while continuing to work. My commute to and from work is nearly two hours each way. The hotel room does not have a refrigerator or microwave, which has meant relying on ordering food daily—an expense that quickly adds up and makes it nearly impossible to save toward permanent housing.
I’m doing everything I can to stay afloat while figuring out my next steps, but the costs of temporary lodging, transportation, and basic necessities have made this incredibly challenging.
The assistance I’m asking for will help cover:
• Food and daily meals
• Transportation to and from work
• Basic necessities
• Securing permanent housing, including a security deposit and first month’s rent
Any support—whether through a donation or sharing this page—means more than I can express. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for helping me work toward stable, permanent housing.
