The decision to start this GoFundMe page for our dear friend and brother, Cornelius Austin, better known as Corny was a humbling one indeed. Corny and his wife, Shannon, are hard working, caring people, with three young kids at home, but they've hit hard times and need our support.

Corny has been struggling with kidney disease for a few years, and he is now unfortunately in end stage renal failure which means his kidneys cannot function on their own any longer and requires dialysis. The dialysis treatments are 3-4 times a week for 4-6 hours each day. Corny will need to keep this rigorous schedule for the rest of his life or until he receives a kidney transplant which can take about 3-4 years!

Since Corny spends 20+ hours a week at dialysis, it has made it impossible to keep his full time, fast paced, high stress job at Southwest Airlines. Dialysis is not only time consuming, but it is hard on the body. It is exhausting and can lead to multiple life threatening infections which Corny has experienced. He has had multiple surgeries and procedures in dealing with the fallouts of dialysis. He has tried multiple times for home dialysis, so he could return to work full time, but he is no longer a candidate for that at this time. All of this has put immense stress on Corny, his wife Shannon and their three young kids. Shannon is able to work from home right now, so she can help take care of Corny and be there for the kids. But after cutting back and back, the bills and needs keep piling.
