Support for Nikie as she battles cancer
Donation protected
Hi! This is Amber and David Dorr. We are organizing this GoFundMe for our dear friends, Josh and Nikita English. Nikie was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past month. She and Josh have been spending days upon days in the hospital, at doctor visits, or in labs for blood work. Needless to say, this has been a very challenging and tiresome experience, but Josh and Nikie have both maintained their faith and trust in the Lord that He will complete the work that He has begun in them. Their spirits are high as they have seen God's hand in their lives even in the midst of this valley. David and I felt led to help assist them as walk through this trying time. If you are able to help in any way, it is greatly appreciated.
Nikie's Story:
Sully Nikita Hill Diamond English (Nikie) was born and raise on a little island off the coast of Honduras called Utila. She loves her little island, the people, and especially the food! Ten years ago, she moved to the states to enroll in college. She graduated with honors from Delgado Community College. After graduating, she started working as a teacher's assistant, where she loved working with her students and teachers. She is blessed to now be the assistant director of Metairie Daycare and Learning Center.
On one of her visits to the states (about 12 years ago), she met the man who would one day be her husband. He was one of the worship leaders at her cousin's church. She immediately fell in love with his voice, long before knowing she would eventually fall in love with the man he is! In December 2013, Nikie married Josh English and they have been happily married ever since!
Her Health:
It all started with a simple cough. The cough persisted for months and led to many other symptoms and concerns. She eventually broke out in a rash on her elbows and the tops of her feet, followed by a lump under her neck and armpit. She went to several doctors, including a dermatologist, and they all said it was just lymph nodes swelling because her body was fighting something. However, no one could say what she was fighting. A month ago, she went to her obgyn and showed her the lumps and discussed the symptoms. The doctor immediately scheduled her for an ultrasound, that was followed by bloodwork that showed she was anemic. She was then scheduled for a biopsy and ct scan that showed the mass in her chest, which was pushing against her heart. She was admitted to the hospital and the following day got her first round of chemo.
Since beginning chemotherapy, Nikie and Josh have maintained their confidence in Jesus Christ and the peace that comes from knowing Him. They have both proclaimed that the Lord is Nikie's healer and will walk with them as they navigate the most challenging times of their lives.
As they walk through this, our hope is to alleviate the financial pressures of going through a major health crisis. They are so grateful for their amazing employers who have given them the time away for Nikie to recover. To be with Nikie during hospital stays and doctor appointments, Josh has missed many days of work. Nikie has also missed many days of work. Needless to say, there is a need for medical bills to be covered and other bills to be paid. The timeline for Nikie's treatment and recovery is now until approximately January 2021. She has 4 more rounds of chemo. We know she will beat this and come out victoriously healed! We pray that anyone who is able to help assist will consider doing so.
Thank you so very much for your time and consideration. Any assistance is very much appreciated. All our love to Josh and Nikie. ♥️
