Help Healing From Vitrectomy

Hello everyone! Three months ago I was diagnosed with Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy. After having two injections and one laser treatment, my doctor has decided surgery on my eye is the next option. I’ll be going in for surgery on the 27th. The laser treatment I previously had left my left eye with decreased vision. The surgery may help but it’s mostly to try to preserve the vision I have and repair the retinal detachment that’s occurring in that eye. My right eye will undergo laser treatment at the same time which could also cause decreased vision but is being done to prevent hemorrhage and retinal detachment in that eye. I didn’t want to air all this out but I need help. The recovery for this surgery can be a long road. I’ll have to stay in a head down position for anywhere from 5-14 days or longer, including while I sleep. As the primary caregiver of my two children this isn’t going to be easy. They make equipment to help with the posturing I’ll need that I can rent but it’s a little pricey. Aaron also has no vacation and I could really use him home for several days while we figure out our new routine for the next 3-4 weeks. So I’ve created this GoFundMe to hopefully help me rent some equipment and get Aaron home with me for a bit. I have several people who will luckily be able to help me when he has to go to work, but with a global pandemic I definitely want to limit the number of people around the kids and coming into my home. Plus it would be nice having him home with me during the initial recovery because this is going to be terrifying. I won’t be able to see much of anything out of my left eye for at least a week or so, if not longer. The vision in my right eye will be bad for hopefully just a few days but there’s no way to know. Complications with laser surgery do include permanently decreased vision. So in saving my vision I could have to sacrifice part of it. Any donation is so greatly appreciated. Even just a share.
