Willie Kerr (DaWillys) Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Our friend Willie Kerr (former bass player for Da Willys) has brain cancer (CNS lymphoma) and is in hospital in his western PA home town. He was diagnosed back in April and given 1-3 months. We have a lot of hope that there is a good chance he will surpass the doctors' expectations. Willie has no surviving family able to care for him, and is being cared for by a good friend. This fund is to help provide support in the overwhelming task of arranging his care and managing the day to day demands that entails, such as maintaining his home, etc. (for example, when Willie was able to stay at home it was necessary to purchase a hospital bed, and we've paid next month's rent on his apartment so that he has a consistent mailing address). We don't have a lofty financial goal, just trying to supply a cushion for unexpected and extra costs.
The goal at this point is to keep Willie as comfortable as possible in the time that he has left, and hoping for the most time possible for us to show how much we care about him. Currently, Willie's caretaker is seeking new hospice care for him and we don't know what the out of pocket costs for that will be.
Willie made a huge contribution to our lives as a friend, musician, music lover and record collector extraordinaire, part time roadie, baseball fan, former beer enthusiast, and all around gem of a guy. Please donate what you can.
