Guinness Hospital Support
Donation protected
Our gentle giant Guinness started showing signs of tummy upset a week and a half ago. Several vet visits, medications, and attempts to diagnose the problem led us to discover low red blood cell count, extremely low platelets, and a small amount of free fluid in the abdomen. He was admitted to the 24 hr veterinary hospital Sun Oct 18th and is still there receiving supportive care from veterinary specialists.
The current running theory is that he’s having an autoimmune issue. We are still waiting on a few test results to come back to help us determine next steps. He has some clinical signs that are a bit abnormal for a typical autoimmune issue so they are covering all their bases. He’s currently receiving medications to help with his tummy issues, steroids to help combat autoimmune issues, antibiotics, and IV fluids. It’s recommended that we keep him at the hospital until his platelets and red blood cells stabilize and he isn’t close to needing a transfusion. The veterinarian is optimistic about his recovery, if this truly is an autoimmune issue.
We will continue to do everything the vets recommend as long as Guinness continues to do well and doesn’t seem to be suffering. We will not stop getting him the care he needs for financial reasons. I will max out all of my credit cards if I have to. We are creating this GoFundMe in an attempt to help offset a financial blow that we weren’t exactly prepared for. As of this morning, we are at $5,200. Please do not feel like you need to donate, we know how hard this year has been on everyone. We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers and good vibes for our boy. If you know him, you know that he really is the best dog in the whole world, and we just want him to get better as soon as possible.
