Raise to Raise for Cancer Research

Race to Raise is an upcoming event to raise funds for KWF, the Dutch national cancer foundation, and other cancer-related good causes. Our chosen good cause is ColSensation, an annual biking event in the French mountains organised by Team Doelbewust. The latter was founded in 2010 by the family of one of our sorority members, who experienced very closely the effects that cancer can have on one’s life. They couldn’t just sit still and do nothing while loved ones around them suffered the consequences of this devastating illness. After participating in the RoParun, a relay race from Paris to Rotterdam, they wanted to organise their own event. ColSensation takes place in France on the ‘Mont Ventoux’. It’s a 21 km-long route with an average gradient of 7,6 %. Participants can climb the mountain running or by bike. The money raised goes to several cancer-related good causes. Every year, approximately half of the money raised goes to KWF. Another part of the funds go to research.
