My dad John was a very hard worker, he work hard for everything that he could give his family. His hard work was NEVER for himself but his family. 4 yrs ago we found out my dad had mylodysplastic syndrome from Celevend Clinc. They immediately started him on chemo. Which worked for a year and then stopped working. When the chemo stopped working we found out that now instead of just having the Mylodysplastic Syndorme his disease turned into Acute Myloid Leukemia. So the doctors started him on a different type of chemo. This chemo was very strong for his body and he had to retire early due to the symptoms of the chemo and the leukemia taking a toll on his body. So back in March of 2015 my sister and I had to more else take on all the bills in the house hold. While we are trying to get our schooling completed, my sister was also working 96 hrs a week and I had to pick up a second job. This was to help with house hold bills, food, medical expenses for my dad. At this time my dad started to go to Harvast Night and Gale for food to help us. Harvast Night and Gale helps families with food and bathroom stuff. My dad didn't like going to get "hand outs" but he want to help somehow. So, back to the 2nd round of chemo, that chemo was to strong for his body. The doctors tried different amount of days to give him the chemo with no luck. They took him off of the chemo and told him there wasn't anything else they could do for him. That left us no choice but to just get him blood and platelet transfusions to keep him alive because my dad being the fighter that he was, he wasn't ready to give up. With blood and platelet transfusion he had a co pay through his insurence along with co pays for when he was getting chemo. We tried to get help through the American Cancer Socitey but there were no funds avalable for his type of cancer. He was doing really well with the transfusions for a while. He was in the hospital many times for pneumonia and pulled through with that too. About 6 mos ago we found out he had portal Hypertension and had to be put on meds for that too. If no one knows what portal hypertension is, its when the liver is damaged and blood can't flow through the liver like it should. Sometime because of that the liver will get backed up with blood and start bleeding else where in the body. Right around that time he started passing out because his hemoglobin would get so low because of the luekemia and bleed so, he was in and out of the hospital for that. We started him on some homeopathic meds. Within a month his levels were coming up and almost in normal range. He was doing good but still getting his transfusions. Last Wednesday (May 18, 2016) he went for his blood transfusion and did fine. Thursday (May 19, 2016) he said "he was sick to his stomach" we took his temp. and he had a fever. Then took him into the Emergency Hospital and they had to keep him. They did all kinds of test and everything was comming back neg. While he was in the hospital he was giving 4 different high antibiotics and his white blood cells continued to go up. Friday and Saturday he was good ate, talked with us and laughed at the hospital. Sunday morning the hospital called us telling us his blood pressure was dropping that they were sticking him ICU. When in ICU he was put on an IV med to keep his blood pressure up. By Sunday night he was so confused that he couldn't talk to us. At this time he was put on a bi pap and sedated. Monday still sedated and on the bi pap, his liver emzymes were up and kidney function wasn't very good. Tuesday afternood the doctors talked to us and told us that my dad was in septic shock and kidney failure. If you don't know what septic shock is, it is when the infection gets so bad that it goes in the blood stream and startes to shut down organs. We told that doctors to stop treatment and we would put him on hospice. Tuesday night he went to hospice. Wednesday afternoon my dad had passed. With all of this thatleaves us with alot of medical bills that still have to be paid and funeral cost, house payment, bills for the house and we are behind with all of them. My mom cries because she don't know what to do and with her soulmate of 48 yrs she is lost. My dad's co workers would always ask him when he was working how are you and the family, plus if my dad needed any. But with my dad he would never ask for hand outs because he was taught to take care of his family at all cost. If we were to get donations it would be spent on funeral cost, House payment (that we are behind on) , medical bills, eletric, gas bill a couple of the bill we had a shut off notice on. My sister and I are trying to do the best that we can. With what we make. So if you could just give something to help my family in this hard time of need. Anything would be appreciated. Thank you for your donation to help my family in this hard time and GOD BLESS YOU!
