On Sunday 3rd of May I am aiming to run the Belfast marathon and will be raising funds for the amazing neonatal team in Antrim Area Hospital .
With just under 5 months of training and at 10 months postpartum this is a huge undertaking but honestly this is nothing compared to the challenges faced by families that unfortunately need to avail of the neonatal service.
Back in 2021 the neonatal team in Antrim were instrumental in saving my nephew Leo's life and we were so very grateful for the quality of care that not only Leo received but also his mummy and daddy.
Fast forward to June 2025 when our son Jimmy was born and unfortunately we found ourselves on the neonatal ward with a very sick wee boy.
The neonatal ward is like no other. The staff are angels caring for your precious little baby whilst also supporting you emotionally and physically through doctors rounds, your baby's first hold and your feeding journey - they are just phenomenal .
Jimmy thankfully was out of neonatal within a few days , but I am very aware we were one of the lucky ones. For many families the neonatal ward can become a families home for weeks/months and so I would love to be able to give something back to the neonatal team. To help support families now and in the future- you just don't know when you or a member of your family may need them!
Any donations are much appreciated
Thank you,
Grace, kevin , Martha and Jimmy
