Support Our Orthodox Christian Orphanage in Kenya

This fundraiser aims to direct donations towards the construction of our dormitory building, at St Barnabas Orthodox Orphanage and School in Kenya.Every donation helps to get our kids into safe housing sooner. Many of the children who we support are subject to horrendous foster home conditions where they are barely given the necessities. Your donations help us to give over 200 children a roof over their head, food on their plate and an education.Please share this fundraiser with your friends as we aim to get our kids into this completed dormitory building as soon as possible.School Cross Country in Kenya:In order to raise these funds, St Barnabas Orthodox Orphanage and School will be hosting a school cross country run in early March of 2021, depending on national COVID restrictions. Students of St Barnabas, as well as local students of schools in the surrounding area, will be participating in the event, which will involve a 3-4km fun run around the premises of our School.Depending on COVID circumstances, this School Cross-Country will hopefully be attended by His Eminence, Archbishop Makarios of Kenya.His Eminence, Archbishop Makarios, has given his written blessing for the event to be undertaken, and we thank him graciously for his support.Pictured Above: His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Kenya and Father Methodius, Director of St Barnabas Orthodox Orphanage and School.The Orphanage itself:St Barnabas Orthodox Orphanage and school provides Prep to 12 education and pastoral care for around 250 kids, and the current COVID conditions in Kenya have meant that most of the school's students have been unable to receive a proper education for the majority of the past year.The completion of this dormitory building in the coming months at St Barnabas will enable around 200 students to live on-site, ensuring that they continue to receive an education and that their basic needs will be supported. In the same time period, a small team of runners/cyclists in Australia will be undertaking a 50km charity run/ride this coming March.Details on this 'ultramarathon' type run will be shared on social media in the future via St Barnabas' Facebook and Instagram pages.If you would like to participate in a run of your own, in support of this event, please contact St Barnabas' Facebook page directly, which you may find in the links below.Financial TargetWe have set an ambitious target of $30,000 Australian Dollars, which is around $23,000 USD, and will serve as an the initial target for this fundraiser, to finalize the construction of the dormitory building and support St Barnabas Orthodox Orphanage and School's current operational costs.Provided that, with God's grace, and your support, we achieve this collective $30,000 target, we aim to continue to raise funds for the aforementioned ongoing developments at St Barnabas Orthodox Orphanage and School, which include a nurses' clinic and chapel.Pictured above: One of our students helping us with landscaping, in front of our dormitory building.More details to come.
