Support for Lydia Polak & family
Donation protected
Welcome! My name is Stacie Simpson and I am a friend and former co-worker of Crystal Polak. I personally have been through the process of supporting an immediate family member through a cancer diagnosis and treatment plan, and I truly can't imagine what it must be like to do so with your child. I know firsthand that expenses come at lightning speed and bills pile up, at a time when finances should be the last thing on your mind. I offered to coordinate a fundraising effort for the Polak family through this page. Funds raised will go directly to the Polak family for them to use however they see fit, whether it be for medical bills, household bills, daily needs, or other.
If you're not in a position to give financial support, please know that there are other opportunities to support the Polak family (through their CaringBridge website for Lydia) with meal drop-off, by participating in the upcoming blood drive, or by sharing a message on the website. For those of us that live further away and can't show our support through local efforts, a small financial gift will be both meaningful and helpful.
Here is more information from Crystal, on Lydia's diagnosis:
“On September 10 we took Lydia to urgent care for a mild fever and unusual rash. While she was clearly not feeling well, we didn't suspect anything serious. Urgent care didn't like the rash and sent us to the emergency room. The ER ran some tests and told us the likely diagnosis of Leukemia and said we needed to get to Children's Hospital right away. In less than 8 hours we went from our family watching TV together on the couch to settling into our room in the Macc Fund Center at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. In the early hours on September 11 Lydia was officially diagnosed with high risk B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia....or as we will refer to it later B-cell ALL. “
