Save Christa and her Children

Christa and her five children have been through a traumatic few years, survivors of an emotionally abusive relationship. Christa left her marriage literally with nothing but a few changes of clothes. She lost everything, her home, vehicle, clothing, furniture, all sentimental items, her life’s possessions. Christa and the kids struggled for months, living in a hotel room last summer, unable to work steadily without child care. A women’s shelter, contacted by friends, helped her get back on her feet, paying for the deposits to move into a secure, gated and safe home. Christa is struggling as a single mom supporting five children and paying alimony to her ex-husband. She receives no financial support from him and is the sole provider for her family and her ex-husband’s alimony expenses. The courts have failed this young mother of five, she is still fighting the court system and her ex. It takes two incomes these days to support a family and Christa is expected to pay for her children and her ex-husband. Over the past couple of months, Christa has spiraled into a financial crisis after losing her nursing contract and her steady babysitter. She is 2 months behind on rent and has received a 3 day notice to pay rent or vacate the property. Christa is required to pay $4,800 by 9AM Thursday morning to stop the eviction process. Christa is on the verge of being in the same situation as last summer, trying to find housing in a guarded community with an eviction on her record and no money for deposits and move-in fees. These kids and Christa have been through so much, the kids are amazing children and need some stability in their lives. Christa is doing her best to provide for her family, taking nursing temp work in places as far as West Palm Beach, an hour and a half drive, working as hard as she can to make ends meet. We all need a leg up sometimes and some of us have more support than others.
