Photographer shot in face during Protests

Hello everyone, my Name is Vincent Doyle. On May 30 2020 I woke up intending to have a full day doing photography. I woke up at 6am to buy an old film camera then used that same camera on a photo shoot during the day. After finishing up around 7pm I headed towards the city to photograph the George Floyd protests, 5 days after his death and just 3 whole days after we all saw that terrible cell phone video. I always wanted to attend a protest but never had the chance, never knew when they were organized, etc. But this was different. The entire country, and other countries were participating and I knew this would be in history. So I went out to take photographs and I luckily had a video of what happened to me. I was NOT there to cause damage to anyone or anyone’s property. As someone who aspires to have my own business space this makes zero sense. I was shot in the left eye that night, leaving me blind in the left eye and causing an orbital fracture in the bone right under my eye. This healing process has been interesting if you’d call it that. I’ve had one surgery to bring some of my peripheral vision back but I still don’t know if I’ll ever see again. I’ll also have glaucoma ( High eye pressure) for the rest of my life. I also have multiple fractures in teeth on my left side. I have nerve damage so I haven’t felt much pain since the hospital/ surgery. I’ve had people message and donate from all over the globe and I can’t believe it and appreciate every single penny, share and supportive message. I stayed in the hospital for a week and received a bill of just over 30k. My eye surgery ran me about 10k including doctors appointments and medicine. Until I get my federal lawsuit resolved I have to pay for my remaining surgeries out of pocket which I was not aware of until they let me go home after the hospital.
