The Turtle Island Food Bus

Hello everyone, my name is Rowena, I am Klamath, Modoc, Dine', and Paiute.
I am very grateful to be here and share my story with you.
Prior to this pandemic I traveled up and down Interstate 5 selling my specialty apparel, jewelry, stickers, beanies, and hats.
My products were sold at local Saturday and holiday markets, and powwows.
This way of life was meant to keep me on the road to advocate for clean water and help protect sacred lands for my own people, other movements, and Nations which was not easy to do.
When covid hit the area, this way of life disappeared. Many things happened at the same time, I got a f/t job, covid hit, I lost my job, I got a 2nd job, I lost that job too, and I had nowhere to go temporarily.
Not long after, I was blessed a 35 foot bus to call home.
I had a new starter put in it, started peeling off previous decals and created a to do list.
I also created a new way of living with ideas of modifying part of the bus into a mobile food bus and catering business. Food trucks are popular during this pandemic and I will sell frybread and Indian Tacos.
This Food Bus will benefit you the people who miss this food. I will have other family and friends who are talented in making frybread and Indian Tacos on board, benefitting as well.
I am keeping a positive outlook on life and see 2021 as a very successful year attending as many festivals, markets and powwows with the bus formerly known as the "Occupy Medical Bus" from Eugene, Oregon.
Long term goal to purchase some of my own Ancestral land back.
