On Thursday October 8, 2020 Ted was in a horrific work accident where his sweatshirt got caught on the boring attachment of his trencher and flung him rapidly around it. Thankfully he was working with Wild River Electric and Nate one of their employees was able to shut the machine off. As some of you know Ted usually works alone and he would not be alive today if the guys from Wild River Electric were not there. Ted was rushed in a ambulance to Regions in St. Paul where they determined he sustained some serious injuries including: right humerus fracture, right scapula fracture, left scapula fracture, 10 broken ribs on both sides of his body, cervical vertebra #7 transverse process, small pneumothorax on left and right side, cuts to his right arm, ear, temple, and right cheek. After stabilizing him in the emergency room Ted had his first surgery Thursday night on his compound fracture in his shoulder because they were worried about infection. While they were working on him they found out that a piece of his shoulder bone broke off and was missing from his body, they now need to do a bone graft and he needs another surgery in 6 weeks. Ted’s next surgery is scheduled for Tuesday October 13 for repair on his shoulders. Another surgery will need to be scheduled for his ribs to repair and clean up the loose bone fragments in his body. He currently has tubes in both lungs to to keep the fluid out. Through all this Teddy has been a champ. We are so grateful that he is making jokes and asking when he can go back to work. (Typical Ted) He’s able to eat, and started walking a little on Sunday (Oct 11) The nurses and doctors are amazed at how well he is already recovering even though he has multiple surgery’s and a lot of physical therapy to go. Ted owns his own business and with him being the only employee he does not have insurance. Ted would never ask for donations and always helps other in need but without insurance Ted and his wife Teresa are looking at tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills. Ted will be in the hospital for at least another week and with recovery time it’s unlikely he will be able to work for the rest of the year. The overflowing prayers from family, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances has been truly amazing and makes you realize the important things in life. We are setting up a Gofundme and Venmo. Any ability to contribute would be such a blessing to Ted and his wife Teresa.
