Last month, at the age of 39, Tara was diagnosed with breast cancer which has also spread to her lymph nodes. For those of you that know Tara would agree that she is a strong, independent woman. She’s known to take on any challenge head-on and we expect nothing less with this fight against cancer!
Tara’s strong-will is exactly what she will need to beat this disease, but as you know strong-willed people don’t like asking for help. Help with the things that healthy people take for granted. Being able to grocery shop, pick up the house, play with our kids, vacuum the carpet, go to work daily to financially provide for your family; it all seems so easy. Reality suddenly changes when you are sick. All of a sudden, the things we take for granted become gigantic mountains to climb.
In the Tibetan regions of Nepal and the Himalayas, the Sherpa, an ethnic group of people, are hired to help explorers navigate the mountainous region. They help the explorers overcome adversity along the way by guiding them through the unknowns. We are Tara’s Sherpas! We need to help navigate this journey with her and help carry a part of the burden in an effort to reduce the mounting stress cancer can put on families financially.
For those of you in Missouri you will recognize Tara as the daughter of Gary & Peggy Klocke of Monroe City, MO and Edie (Edwards) Klocke of New London, MO. Tara currently lives in Hudson, WI with her two boys; Colten (12) and Cash (9).
Please consider a donation to Tara and the boys to help with the financial burden of the mounting medical bills as well as keeping the home-front alive. Although Tara has medical insurance, she has a high-deductible Health-Savings-Account (HSA) and her out of pocket expense is over $6500/year before benefits provide coverage. This out of pocket expense is annually; so while the cancer treatments and further care will continue well into next year, Tara will unfortunately have two years of large out of pocket expenditures to cover. Two large deductibles back to back will only be the start of this unforeseen setback. If you are able, please pull together whatever you are able to donate and know that anything will help her immensely. Please, if you can, no amount too small, please donate. We greatly appreciate any amount you are able to provide and continue to ask for your prayers as she fights this battle!
