Jaxon is a six year old boy born prematurely at 27 weeks (Twin B) weighing 2 lb., 1 ounce who suffered an Intraventricular Hemorrhage at birth (Grade 3 on Right side, Grade 4 on Left side) along with developing meningitis (both bacterial and viral) and Hydrocephalus. The Hemorrhage led to full blockage of all four ventricles. Jaxon had to have a VP (Ventriculoperitoneal) shunt placed at 2 months old to treat the hydrocephalus. He also continues to have seizures in which he takes medication daily. All developmental milestones for Jaxon have been significantly delayed.
Due to Jaxon's disability and medical history, financial hardship has occured from many surgeries, countless weeks spent in hospitals and numerous amount of doctor bills most of which from co-pays and tests including MRI's, CT Scan's, Shuntograms and EEG's. In addition, each time Jaxon is hospitalized or sick, time is missed from family's work.
The future for Jaxon is unknown as he has already in his 6yrs has needed 4 emergency shunt revisions and continues to have seizures daily.
