Fund for college transition

Good afternoon

I would like to introduce Emma Si Nae and her two sons, Tyler (14) and Spencer (12).

As most of you know, Emma worked with Mark Lesley and the team at Ambrosia for years. She was a most valued member of the team and provided Mark with organizational, business and common sense support.

Emma has planned to complete her Bachelor's degree since withdrawing from UC Berkeley five years ago and she persisted in pursuing her educational goals this winter while supporting her father during his last days, and despite Mark's passing and the closing of Ambrosia. She will be going back to college this fall and then on to Law School.

Emma has been admitted to Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania as a McBride scholar. Bryn Mawr is a Seven Sisters college (the women's counterparts to the Ivy League colleges). They usually accept about 25 transfer students annually. She will be studying Political Science and intends to go to law school after completing her Bachelor's degree to become a public defender. Emma hostessed at Ambrosia for 2 1/2 years and has volunteered as a study hall tutor for Prison University Project at San Quentin for the past 4 years. Other volunteer activities include her work as the donation coordinator for Marin's California Coastal Clean Up for the last 2 years and regular volunteer work for KQED, Earth Day and the Kentfield School District, while being a single mother of two fine boys, Tyler (14) and Spencer (12).

Emma is seeking support from the community and friends for relocation support and money to help the boys and her over the summer. Since the closing of Ambrosia, Emma has been working part time.

Recently, her father passed away in February after a long battle with lymphoma and congestive heart failure and her mother is currently battling pancreatic cancer.

Emma is a person of ethics and integrity and is raising her children with good values. If you deem appropriate, as I do, I would ask that you donate whatever you feel comfortable with to support Emma and her family on her journey to Bryn Mawr College. She has been giving to the community and when she graduates and reaches her goal of a Law Degree, Emma will seek to become a Public Defender, assisting those in need.

All monies will be used to support Emma and the family in their transition and travel from California to Bryn Mawr College.

Thank you for your consideration.
